A Google Calendar connection can improve personal visibility while weakening dispatch control if ownership is unclear. Jobber, Housecall Pro, and Kickserv should be checked against current integration documentation. The important evidence is event behavior, not the appearance of an integration name. No calendar sync was run here.
Operational constraint: an event is not the complete job
The field system may own customer, location, scope, technician, and job status, while Google Calendar presents time and availability. An employee can drag, rename, duplicate, or delete an external event without understanding the operational consequences.
For each candidate, document one-way or two-way direction, supported calendars, event creator, identifiers, fields shared, privacy exposure, update timing, recurrence, cancellation, and deletion. Decide which changes are permitted outside the field system and how staff recognize a read-only representation.
Reproducible mini-check
With synthetic appointments, create a job, move it in the field system, edit the external event, change assignment, cancel the appointment, restore it, and create a visually similar duplicate. Include time-zone and daylight-saving handling relevant to the buyer's operating locations.
Observe which system wins each conflict, how quickly changes appear, what warnings exist, and whether the job record keeps history. Repeat the same sequence for Jobber, Housecall Pro, and Kickserv. This is a proposed evaluation, not a completed test.
Exception: synchronization pauses overnight
Assume an office user moves tomorrow's first appointment while the connection is unavailable. A technician consults Google Calendar before recovery. Ask how stale data is signaled, which schedule is authoritative, and how duplicate or conflicting events reconcile later.
Define an outage procedure that sends staff to the authoritative schedule and prevents edits in the representation layer. A silent delay should weigh more heavily than cosmetic calendar preferences.
After recovery, reconcile appointments by stable identifier rather than title and time alone, then document who closes remaining conflicts.
Conclusion: keep dispatch ownership singular
Choose the shortlisted option only after current documentation and the mini-check establish direction, fields, timing, and recovery. Google Calendar can be a useful view, but dispatch should have one named system of record. The best integration makes an external event convenient without allowing it to silently rewrite customer promises or job history.
